Users within the following categories can have access to ECONAU:
All new users working under the authorization of the Department of Economics and Business Economics must attend a data security course before obtaining access to any data. Please contact the Department's data managers (datamanager@econ.au.dk) if you wish to affiliate a new or existing user to an ECONAU project.
Access is generally not given to students for the purpose of writing projects, reports, or theses. Student research assistants are allowed to use data for writing a project or thesis if approved by the employer and the project manager.
Rare exceptions to the above guidelines may be made when extraordinary circumstances are present. A written application can be sent to the ECONAU Steering Group, datamanager@econ.au.dk.
Continued access to Statistics Denmark projects requires that the user be covered by appropriate legal agreements for external users.
Researchers who move to another Danish institution must immediately take steps to move their data projects to the authorization of their new institution. If the researcher is working on papers using an AU-employee’s data project, these papers must - if they do not have any AU-coauthors - be approved by the ECONAU Steering Group and finished within two years of leaving Aarhus University. In any case legal agreement must be signed.
Please contact datamanager@econ.au.dk for further information on legal arrangements.
There is a possibility for Master Thesis students in Economics and in Public Policy to get access to register data from Statistics Denmark for the master thesis. Students following the course in Applied Microeconomics are allowed to start early on the access to make a "small pilot project".
It is a prerequisite for the student’s access to register data that the proposed Master thesis has been assessed by the supervisor as having sufficient research quality. The student’s supervisor must be an experienced user of Statistics Denmark’s register data and should have rights to transfer home files.
The subject of the student’s Master Thesis must be feasible within one of the five predefined projects, see: Project descriptions for register data access to students
Please contact datamanager@econ.au.dk for further information.
