PhD programme in Economics and Business Economics

The PhD programme in Economics and Business Economics is an internationally recognised research training programme. The intention is to bring the student to the international research frontier.

During the first part, the PhD students are required to participate in an individually designed advanced course programme. In the second part of the programme the purpose is to develop the PhD students’ ability to conduct research on a specific topic under supervision. The study finishes with a PhD thesis that can be a monograph or a collection of research papers including a summary which explains the scientific outcome of the papers and their connections.

The programme is designed to prepare students for academic positions involving research and teaching, as well as for careers in business, government and non-governmental agencies.

Department of Economics and Business Economics has approximately 70 PhD students and is especially strong in macroeconomics, theoretical and empirical labour economics, finance, business intelligence, econometrics, accounting and auditing, and logistics and operations research.
