Title: Congested facility location problem with strategic customers

Abstract: As extensions of classic facility location problems (FLPs), congested facility location problems (CFLPs) introduce a nonlinear dimension to FLPs by modeling facilities as queueing systems. In this presentation, I will share with you the results from a working paper on CFLPs in which customers are assumed to be sensitive to price, ease of access, and waiting time at facilities. In this model, instead of a central decision maker determining customer-facility assignments, utility-maximizing customers make decision on which facilities to patronize (if any). We show that the resulting MINLP can be reformulated as a MISOCP which is solvable using commercial solvers.
