Profile

Luke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Business Economics at Aarhus University. He has a PhD in Economics from LSE.

Research

Luke specialises in theoretical and applied econometrics. On the theoretical side, he focuses on nonparametric estimation and testing, especially in the presence of measurement error. In his applied research, Luke looks into the criminal justice system, exploring topics such as the effects of plea bargaining, the consequences of a criminal record, and the prevalence of miscarriages of justice.

Teaching activities

Luke teaches Business Statistics and Quantitative Research Methods in the first year of the Economics and Business Administration degree programme. These courses teach the fundamentals of statistics and data analysis using the software R, and focus on data handling and regression. Luke has previously taught Causal Inference (3rd year BSc) and Advanced Econometrics (PhD level); he supervises BSc, MSc, and PhD theses.

Consultancy

Luke is a partner and part-time Senior Data Scientist at TraderVoice.io, where financial news is quantitatively and qualitatively summarised for traders. This work involves cutting-edge statistical analysis and natural language processing, together with the latest technology in generative AI.
