Profil

Sebastian Mathias Jensen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, Aarhus University. He is a research fellow at the Center for Research in Energy: Economics and Markets (CoRE). He holds a PhD in Economics and Business Economics from Aarhus University (2021).

Forskning

Sebastian is particularly interested in how econometrics and machine learning can be combined to develop new methods for climate data. For example, he has developed a panel data methodology that combines fixed effects with a neural network regression component for investigating the relationship between national-level income and CO2 emissions. He is also working on combining machine learning methods and filtering techniques (including the Kalman filter) to improve ENSO forecasts.

Uddannelse

Sebastian is teaching Introduction to Empirical Economics for Bachelor's students in Economics and Business Administration. The objective of the course is for students to learn basic econometric theory (including regression analysis with cross-sectional data, time series data, and panel data).

Sebastian also undertakes supervision of bachelor theses and master theses.

Sebastian has previously taught Unsupervised Learning with Python and Business Statistics.
