Workshop on OR in waste management

With the increased attention on sustainability from authorities around the world during the past decade and more reuse and recycling of our resources, there has been an increased attention on optimization problems related to this area during the same period. Researchers in the Operations Research community have studied the collection of waste and recyclable material from households using various kinds of systems and different types of collection trucks. They have studied collection from collection points with and without the inclusion of numerous emerging technologies and often make use of huge amounts of data, which often become available in real time. Furthermore, researchers have sought to find optimal locations for treatment facilities, collection points, and to support the waste community in answering strategic questions related to the waste collection systems of the future.

With this workshop, we seek to gather operations researchers with an interest in research of the above topic to share and discuss research.
