“I was very surprised and proud to find the envelope from Amalienborg in my postbox,” says professor of economics Helena Skyt Nielsen about being appointed Knight of the Order of Dannebrog.

Together with her colleague Peter Løchte Jørgensen, Helena Skyt Nielsen is among the 14 researchers who will receive the order this time round.

"I am incredibly pleased and proud to have been made Knight of the Order of Dannebrog. It is recognition, not only from Her Majesty, but also from my managers here at AU who have recommended me, which I really appreciate,” says
professor of economics Peter Løchte Jørgensen, who will now have to shop for a pair of white gloves and perhaps a new suit to be ready for his audience with Her Majesty the Queen.

Both researchers have been professors at the Department of Economics and Business Economics at Aarhus BSS for a number of years and have contributed substantially to research within each their field.

Helena Skyt Nielsen has been a professor of economics since 2007. She conducts research into labour market economics, economics of education, and family economics, publishing her work in well-respected journals such as the Journal of Public Economics, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the Economic Journal and the Journal of Human Resources.

Previously, Helena Skyt Nielsen has received the Tietgen Award and been a member of the Danish Tax Commission as well as the Independent Research Fund Denmark. Since 2016, she has served as an expert member of the Danish Economic Council.

Peter Løchte Jørgensen has been a professor of economics since 2003. His research into financial topics such as investments and pension has similarly been published in a number of international journals, including Management Science, European Finance Review, and Journal of Banking and Finance.

In addition, Peter Løchte Jørgensen has been chair of the board, vice-chair of the board and member of the board in organisations such as the Investment Committee of the Carlsberg Foundation, the pension fund P+ Pensionskassen for Akademikere and the Aarhus University Research Foundation.
