Economists contribute to epidemiology congress

Associate professor Esben Agerbo from NCRR and CIRRAU arranges a special symposium entitled ‘Health Economics and Social Epidemiology’ at this year's European Congress of Epidemiology held in Aarhus on 11-14 August.

Department of Economics and Business is represented at the European Congress of Epidemiology (EuroEpi) 2013 that will take place from 11 August to 14 August 2013 at the Radisson/Scandinavian Congress Center in Aarhus, Denmark.

Associate professor Esben Agerbo from the department’s interdisciplinary center, CIRRAU, and National Centre for Register-based Research (NCRR) has arranged a special symposium entitled ‘Health Economics and Social Epidemiology’.

- The idea is to present relevant research within Health Economics for epidemiologists. I am confident that we can learn a lot from each other across the main academic areas. We work with related topics but speak different dialects and have different traditions about methods and publication strategies.

The symposium takes place Monday, 12 August at 15.30 – 17.00. The speakers at the symposium will be:

1) Assistant Professor Niels Skipper: ‘Who is in control? The determinants of patient adherence with medication therapy’

2) Professor Paul Bingley: ‘Historical School Expansions and Mortality’

3) Professor Nabanita Datta Gupta: ‘The Effect of a Severe Health Shock on Work Behavior: Evidence from Different Health Care Regimes’

4) Associate Professor Marianne Simonsen: ‘Long-term consequences of ADHD medication use for children's human capital development’
