Magnus Sander Jensen is only 25 years old and he is currently doing a PhD in finance at Aarhus University, School of Business and Social Sciences with the Center for Research in Econometric Analysis of Time Series (CREATES). He has just received a DKK 150,000 grant from Hugo Evers & Co’s Studiefond and the Danish Chamber of Commerce. The money is to ensure that an accomplished and academically ambitious student has the opportunity to go abroad to an internationally acclaimed university, where he can immerse himself further and receive the highest level of training within the field of finance.

-          I am so excited about receiving the grant, and right now I am researching the possibilities for studying in the U.S. If everything proceeds according to plan, I will leave for the States in the fall of 2014.

Promising research projects
Professor Tom Engsted from CREATES is one of Magnus Sander Jensen’s two supervisors, and he played a large part in nominating him for the grant.

-          Magnus is an extraordinarily skilled and spirited student. He has received top marks all the way through his Bachelor’s and his Master’s, and after only one year as a 4+4 student he has already initiated some very promising research projects within the field of empirical finance. Going abroad to a top university in the States will no doubt give him further inspiration and motivation to pursue his career in academia, says Tom Engsted.
