Title: The study of the child mental health and potentials of preventive intervention in a general population birth cohort, CCC2000

Preventive intervention towards mental health problems in childhood is hampered by limitations in knowledge regarding the nature and determinants of developmental psychopathology.

Copenhagen Child Cohort CCC2000 is a prospective general population birth cohort study of mental health and psychopathology, established to improve the scientific foundation of treatment and prevention from early ages.

The CCC2000 cohort of 6090 children born in 2000 has been studies prospectively since 2000. The richness of data covering mental health and development in the infancy period combined with data from Danish national Registers has made CCC2000 outstanding world wide. Follow up studies at key developmental periods (ages 1 1/2, 5-7 years and 11-12 years) have now identified developmental phenotypes across diagnostic categories. Infancy predictors of mental health problems are currently investigated regarding the potential of preventive intervention in the general child health surveillance in the municipalities.
