Title: Selection without Exclusion

Bo Honoré is the Class of 1913 Professor of Political Economy and Professor of Economics at Princeton University, where he has served as Director of Graduate Studies, Graduate Admissions, the Gregory C. Chow Econometric Research Programme, and as Associate Chair and Chair of the Department of Economics. He earned his PhD at the University of Chicago in 1987, and in 1995 he was elected Fellow of the Econometric Society. He is Associate Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Economics and past Associate Editor of Econometrica, Journal of Econometrics, and Econometric Theory. He has been continuously funded by the National Science Foundation since 1988. He was awarded an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship in 1993, The Richard E. Quandt Teaching Prize in 2012 and 2018, and The Rigmor and Carl Holst-Knudsen Award for Scientific Research from Aarhus University in 2017. He is a past member and Vice-chair of the Board of Trustees of the Danish National Research Foundation.  

Bo Honoré’s research area is microeconometric theory and methodologies with an emphasis on the development of methods for applied economists. His publications include contributions to the identification and estimation of duration models with unobserved heterogeneity and competing risks, censored, truncated and Tobit regression and panel models with fixed effects, dynamic discrete choice models, least absolute deviations, and the bootstrap. These have appeared in journals such as Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Econometrics, Econometric Theory, and Journal of Business and Economic Statistics.
