Title: Improving service quality of a computing network in the presence of breakdowns

Abstract: A dramatic increase in computing demand highlights the need for a stable and reliable network. In a computing network, both the generated requests of clients and the serving times of the servers are stochastic, which results in congestion. Besides, each server might be at risk of frequent breakdowns, increasing the congestion in front of the servers. This work employs strategies for improving service quality, considering both clients' access time and congestion delays. The strategies include increasing the service capacities, opening extra servers, and incorporating backup servers. It is shown how these strategies empower the network to distribute the servers' workload smoothly.
