TrygFonden’s Centre for Child Research was established in 2013 with a donation of 60 Million DKK from TrygFonden for the period until 2018. TrygFonden has recently announced that they have got permission to initiate contract negotiations with Aarhus University with the intent to extend the funding until the end of 2022 with a new grant of 40 Million DKK.

The decision is made after a thorough evaluation process carried out by a peer review panel. The panel’s evaluation of the centre’s work over the last five years and its assessment of the prospects of the extension application are very positive and encouraging. For example the panel concludes: ”The panel is impressed with how the centre has managed to carry out large-scale RCTs within the short time frame of the centre’s existence” and “The panel finds that overall the research at the centre is of high quality, high importance and of high relevance to Danish society.”

This is a very strong acknowledgment of the work carried out by all the people who have contributed to the centre’s projects, and the centre is looking forward to continue this work over the next five years, when the negotiations between TrygFonden and Aarhus University hopefully are concluded successfully.
